A Shared Passion for Books
About Us
Hills & Hamlets Bookshop is a charming neighborhood bookstore in the Serenbe development of Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia. We offer a tightly curated browsing experience with something to interest readers of all ages. Our selection emphasizes books that celebrate and explore the values of our unique community, with our most robust sections on topics such as food, cooking, agriculture, sustainable living, spirituality, health & well-being, architecture, local & regional history & culture, and the arts -- all in addition to indie bookstore staples like popular fiction, literature, and children's books.
Hills & Hamlets is a bookshop by book lovers, for book lovers. Whether you're a long time local resident who hasn't been to the shop yet or a visitor enjoying a short stay in our lovely community, we look forward to welcoming you into our lovingly created, quaint little bookshop!
Our Story
Owners Josh Niesse and Megan Bell met just after Josh opened Underground Books, a used, rare, and antiquarian bookstore in Carrollton and Hills & Hamlet's sister store. Two weeks after Josh opened the doors, Megan came in and resolved to never leave. Three years later, Josh and Megan married under an arch of books, which now resides at Underground. Josh and Megan spent several years learning the ropes of antiquarian bookselling, both attending the Colorado Antiquarian Book Seminar and Megan attending Rare Book School, studying under some of the greatest figures in rare and antiquarian books today. With Underground Books turning five, Josh and Megan were ready for a new challenge.
That's when a lovely day trip to Serenbe turned into the seed of an idea. Josh and Megan fell in love with Chatt Hills' gorgeous rural character and Serenbe's thoughtful urban design, farmland, and commitment to the arts, wellbeing, and education, so many of the principles Josh and Megan hold dear. They started dreaming with enthusiastic residents, discussing the details, and sketching plans, and, with the warm support of the community, opened Hills & Hamlets in September of 2016.
Rare & Antiquarian Books
We have a limited selection of our rare and antiquarian books at Hills & Hamlets' lovely antiquarian nook for your browsing pleasure, but we have a more extensive, fully catalogued and photographed collection housed online at our sister store's website, UndergroundBooks.Net.
Our sister store's online shop is intended as a space to highlight our more uncommon and rare books for a wider audience than those who can visit in person at Adamson Square in Carrollton or the Textile Lofts at Serenbe. Our online inventory is housed at Underground Books in a private room. If you are a local collector and would like to see an item from our website, please contact us, and we would be pleased to transfer the item to either shop for your viewing convenience.
Trade Associations
We are proud and active members of numerous bookselling trade organizations, including the Independent Online Booksellers Association (IOBA), the American Booksellers Association (ABA), the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance (SIBA), and the Georgia Antiquarian Booksellers Association (GABA).
Location
Hills & Hamlets Bookshop is located in the Serenbe Textile Lofts at 10625 Serenbe Lane Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia 30268, on the corner of Serenbe and Gainey Lanes, across the street from The General Store and Grange Green.
